As per MCI website - minimum duration of workshop must be 3 days; additional day or sessions may be included.
New schedule of basic workshop - to be followed from April 2014 1st.
Note - basic workshop training mandatory for ALL faculty incl. professors
Now, all participants to PREPARE & SUBMIT A REPORT OF AN ACTIVITY /PROJECT etc. undertaken - related to medical education. This report to be submitted in a month after the workshop - only then will they get the certificate.

Some points regarding Basic Workshop in Medical Education Technology - based on various notifications from MCI -
Each medical college must have a Medical Education Unit.It should have at least six to eight faculty members who have been trained in Basic Workshop in Medical Education Technology conducted at the MCI Regional Centre.
All medical colleges have been allocated to an MCI Regional Centre for MET – e.g. Andhra Medical College,Visakhapatnam / Gandhi Medical College, etc.
Basic Workshop is mandatory for all faculty including Assts Assocs and Professors. (previously upto Assoc Profs. since 2014, MCI made it mandatory for professors also).
They can undergo this training at the Basic course workshops conducted at their own colleges.
Faculty must undergo the basic workshop re-training after five years.
Each college would conduct at least two Basic Workshops per year.
Number of participants per workshop would be 15-24 (Maximum 25).
Feedback from participants will be sent to the Regional Centre .
The Regional Centre would help in sharing Learning Resource Materials.
Regional Centres would conduct four basic workshops per year.
Regional Centre would conduct one one day workshop for MEUnit Coordinators which is mandatory for all MEUnit coordinators.
Medical Colleges must intimate names of Coordinator of MEUnit to Regional Centre & to MCI.
MEUnit Coordinator must send the proposal to MCI to conduct Basic Workshop in their respective colleges. This proposal would go through Regional Centre to MCI at least 30 days in advance (so to be sent to Regional Centre preferably 40 days in advance) –
The application must have the following 3 enclosures – all in word document format.
- Program schedule – for 3 days in prescribed proforma – including day /date, time, name of topic, name of resource person, designation & department
(the program must be as per the schedule given in the MCI website in Faculty Development Program under For Colleges heading)
- List of participants – limited to maximum of 24 /25 per workshop in prescribed proforma – including serial no., name, designation & department, medical college, contact telephone number, email ID.
- Faculty list – in proforma – including serial no., name, designation & department, contact telephone number, email ID
(at least 8 faculty - they must all have been trained at the Regional Centre of MCI and their names would be in the MCI website)
The MCI would nominate a member from the Regional Centre as observer to the workshop conducted by the medical college. Observer would claim TA /DA from the MCI in prescribed format.
Certificates of participation (in prescribed format given by MCI) will be given to only those participants who attend ALL sessions on ALL three days.
